Verden Fell is a man haunted by the loss of his first wife, whose presence seems to linger in the shadows of his crumbling abbey. Seeking a new start, he marries Lady Rowena Trevanion, hoping to leave the past behind. However, the gloomy estate carries an uneasy atmosphere that weighs heavily on his new bride, who soon senses that there is more to the tragic history of the abbey than meets the eye.

As Lady Rowena grows increasingly unsettled, she begins to investigate the strange occurrences surrounding Fell’s home. Her discoveries reveal unsettling connections to Verden’s deceased wife, suggesting that the departed’s spirit remains disturbingly close. The isolation of the abbey and the secrets it holds create a tense environment where trust and reality come into question.
