Rocky Sullivan and Jerry Connelly grow up together in the same tough tenement neighborhood but take vastly different paths as adults. Rocky becomes a notorious gangster involved in the city’s criminal underworld, while Jerry dedicates his life to the church, serving as a priest focused on helping the community they both came from.

As their lives intersect once more, Jerry grapples with his loyalty to his old friend and his commitment to guiding the neighborhood’s youth away from crime. Their contrasting roles test their bond and challenge the influences shaping the streets they both know intimately.
