Joanna, a former child actress, enrolls at a Midwestern college aiming to establish a new identity away from the spotlight. While adjusting to campus life, she forms a close, complicated relationship with her professor, Cathy, which soon turns romantic. Their connection challenges both women as they navigate personal and social boundaries within the academic environment.

As Joanna grows more confident in this new chapter, an unexpected opportunity to revive her acting career arises. She faces a difficult choice between pursuing her renewed passion for performance and maintaining the relationship and independence she has found at college.
