Tripp is a 35-year-old man with a stylish car, a passion for sailing, a lively dating life, and a comfortable home, yet he continues to live with his parents, Al and Sue. Frustrated by Tripp’s reluctance to move out, Al and Sue become inspired when friends mention hiring an intervention expert to help their adult son gain independence. Determined to encourage Tripp to leave the family home, they decide to hire Paula, a professional interventionist who specializes in getting grown children to “launch” into adulthood.

Paula approaches her mission with a proven strategy, aiming to motivate Tripp to embrace a more independent lifestyle. As Paula interacts with Tripp and his world, including his friends like Ace and Demo, her efforts create a mixture of comedic and romantic situations. The story centers on this dynamic as Tripp faces the challenge of stepping onto his own path while his parents watch closely, hoping their plan will finally convince him to leave the nest.
