Whip Whitaker is a skilled commercial airline pilot who struggles with drug and alcohol addiction but has managed to maintain his professional responsibilities. During a routine flight, a critical mechanical failure puts the plane in jeopardy, and Whip executes an emergency crash-landing that saves many lives despite tragic losses.

After the incident, Whip faces intense scrutiny as an investigation by the airline and authorities probes the crash’s causes. As his addiction comes to light, Whip must confront the consequences of his behavior while navigating legal and personal challenges that threaten his future.
