Goin’ South (1978)
In this Western comedy, Henry Moon, a horse thief played by Jack Nicholson, is saved from hanging by a town’s ordinance that allows women to marry criminals to spare their lives. Mary Steenburgen, in her film debut, plays a spinster who takes him in, hoping he will help work her gold mine. Directed by Nicholson himself, the film combines humor with a touch of romance as Moon adjusts to his new life.
