The Pentagon launches a secret Human Hibernation Project, selecting two average individuals—a soldier named Joe and a woman named Rita—to be frozen as test subjects. After a series of unexpected events, they awaken in the year 2505 to a world where intelligence has sharply declined, leaving society dominated by ignorance and chaos.

In this drastically dumbed-down future, Joe and Rita find themselves the smartest people alive, struggling to navigate a civilization filled with bizarre technology and ineffective institutions. Their attempts to adapt highlight the stark contrast between their 21st-century sensibilities and the extreme stupidity that now rules everyday life.
