In the Heat of the Night (1967)

When Virgil Tibbs, a skilled African-American detective from Philadelphia, is detained by Bill Gillespie, the prejudiced police chief of the small town of Sparta, Mississippi, tensions quickly rise. Suspected of murder, Tibbs must assert his innocence while confronting the town’s entrenched racial biases.

Reluctantly, Gillespie teams up with Tibbs as they investigate the case, navigating Sparta’s rigid social hierarchy. Their search for the killer reveals unexpected alliances and hostility, setting the stage for a tense and challenging pursuit of justice.
