Cobb is an expert thief who specializes in extracting valuable secrets by entering the dreams of his targets. Haunted by his past, he is offered a chance to return to his family if he can perform a seemingly impossible task: planting an idea deep enough into a person’s subconscious to make it appear as their own.
To accomplish this, Cobb assembles a skilled team including Arthur, Ariadne, and Eames, and plans a complex journey through multiple layers of dreams. Their mission takes them across shifting dreamscapes where the boundaries of reality blur, all while facing unexpected mental defenses and personal challenges.
