Matilda Wormwood is a highly intelligent young girl whose sharp mind goes unrecognized by her neglectful parents, Harry and Zinnia. When she starts at school, she quickly bonds with her kind teacher, Miss Honey, but must also face the harsh discipline of the cruel headmistress, Miss Trunchbull.

As Matilda navigates the challenges at school and home, she discovers she possesses a special power that might help her stand up to the adults who mistreat her and her friends. With this newfound ability, Matilda begins to change the unfair world around her.
