Mysterious Island (1961)

During the US Civil War, a group of Union prisoners of war escape captivity by floating away in a balloon. They crash on a remote island in the South Pacific, where they discover a strange environment filled with enormous plants and giant creatures. Among the group are key figures navigating this hazardous new world.

Facing constant threats from the oversized wildlife, the survivors must rely on their resourcefulness to overcome the island’s many dangers. Their primary goal becomes finding a way to survive and eventually make their way back home. The story serves as a continuation of events following those in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
