Redemption (2013)

Xiao Likun, a sensitive man proud of his poetic side but burdened by his butcher family background, marries Jiang Yue’e, a kindergarten music teacher with a longing for romance. Their initial attraction rapidly leads to marriage, but their differing social statuses soon create tension. The clash of backgrounds strains their relationship, ultimately resulting in a bitter divorce.

Following the split, Xiao retains custody of their son, Xiao Lei, but retaliates against Jiang by keeping the child away from her. When Jiang challenges Xiao’s paternity of the boy with a DNA test, their fragile bond shatters further. Xiao’s growing desire for revenge escalates as the couple’s conflict turns darker and more dangerous.
