Bilbo Baggins, a peaceful hobbit from the Shire, is unexpectedly recruited by the wizard Gandalf the Grey to join a company of thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield. Their mission is to journey across Middle-earth to reclaim the dwarves’ ancestral homeland, the Lonely Mountain, which has been taken over by the fearsome dragon Smaug.

As the group travels through forests, mountains, and dangerous territories, Bilbo must face creatures and challenges far beyond his quiet life. Alongside Gandalf and the dwarves, he encounters trolls, goblins, and other perils while striving to prove his courage and resourcefulness in the quest to restore their lost kingdom.
