West Side Story (1961)

In Manhattan’s Upper West Side, two rival gangs compete for control: the Jets, a group of Polish-American youths, and the Sharks, newly arrived Puerto Rican immigrants. Tensions between the groups run high as they fight over territory and respect in the neighborhood.

Amid this conflict, Tony, a former Jet, and Maria, the sister of the Sharks’ leader Bernardo, develop a secret romance that challenges their loyalties and escalates the already volatile rivalry. Their relationship sets off a chain of events that threatens to deepen the divide between the gangs and the community around them.
