48 Hrs. (1982)

Nicolai “Nick” Nolte plays Jack Cates, a tough, no-nonsense police detective in San Francisco tasked with capturing a dangerous criminal responsible for several murders. With only 48 hours to solve the case, Cates faces pressure from both his department and the escalating violence on the streets.

To improve his chances, Cates reluctantly enlists the help of Reggie Hammond, a sharp-tongued convict temporarily released from prison under his supervision. The uneasy partnership between the straight-laced cop and the quick-witted criminal sets the stage for a race against time, as they navigate the city’s underworld to track down the elusive killer.
