Escape from New York (1981)

In a dystopian future where Manhattan has been transformed into a maximum-security prison, Air Force One crashes inside the city, and the President is taken hostage by violent inmates. The government recruits former war hero and convicted criminal Snake Plissken to infiltrate the island and rescue the President within 24 hours—or die trying.

Directed by John Carpenter, *Escape from New York* is a gritty sci-fi action thriller starring Kurt Russell in one of his most iconic roles. With its dark atmosphere, synth-heavy score, and cult status, the film became a defining work in 1980s dystopian cinema.
