Godzilla Minus One (2023)

Set in post-war Japan, ‘Godzilla Minus One’ follows Kōichi Shikishima, a former kamikaze pilot burdened with guilt and PTSD after surviving World War II. As he attempts to rebuild his life in a devastated Tokyo, a new terror emerges: Godzilla, a colossal and unstoppable force that threatens to annihilate what remains of the city. Shikishima must confront his past and find the courage to stand against this monstrous adversary to protect his loved ones and his homeland.

Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the film stars Ryunosuke Kamiki as Kōichi Shikishima, Minami Hamabe as Noriko Ōishi, and Yuki Yamada as Shirō Mizushima. ‘Godzilla Minus One’ has been praised for its compelling narrative, character development, and stunning visual effects, offering a fresh and poignant take on the iconic kaiju saga.
