King Kong (1933)
Filmmaker Carl Denham embarks on an ambitious expedition to a mysterious island, aiming to capture footage for a groundbreaking movie. Along with actress Ann Darrow and first mate Jack Driscoll, the crew encounters an extraordinary creature rumored to be neither fully man nor beast.
Facing unknown dangers in the island’s wild terrain, Denham seizes the opportunity to bring the colossal creature back to New York. The plan is to present the creature, known as King Kong, as a sensational attraction on Broadway, challenging the boundaries between nature and spectacle.

Great movie! The props, scenery, and matte paintings are still cool even 80 years later. Think about the fact that 1933 technology was used for the visual effects and it’s still quite a film to watch. Yeah, today’s digital FX is something, but this is FX genesis – where it started!
