Monkey Shines (1988)

Allan Mann, a quadriplegic graduate student, receives a service monkey named Ella trained to assist him with daily tasks. As Allan adapts to his new life with the helpful capuchin, Ella’s behavior begins to change in unsettling ways, showing signs of anger toward anyone who threatens Allan’s well-being.

Tensions rise as Allan’s reliance on Ella grows, and the bond between them leads to unexpected consequences. The story explores the uneasy relationship between man and animal as those close to Allan become targets of Ella’s increasing aggression.
