Requiem for a Dream (2000)

Sarah Goldfarb, a lonely widow, dreams of appearing on television and starts taking diet pills to lose weight. Meanwhile, her son Harry and his girlfriend Marion, along with their friend Tyrone, become increasingly entangled in heroin use as they pursue their own aspirations. All four characters live in Coney Island, where the allure of drugs fuels their hopes for a better life.

As their addictions deepen, each struggles to maintain control over their ambitions and relationships. Their separate paths reveal how dependence gradually erodes their realities, drawing them into a harsh and unforgiving world shaped by cravings and desperation.
