Travis Bickle, a loner battling insomnia, becomes a nighttime taxi driver in New York City, navigating the city’s seedy streets. As he spends countless hours behind the wheel, he grows increasingly isolated and detached, fixated on the idea of ridding the city of its perceived corruption.

Travis’s encounters include a young prostitute named Iris and a political campaign volunteer, Betsy, who represent different facets of the urban environment he confronts. His growing disconnection from reality sets the stage for escalating tensions as he attempts to impose his own sense of order on the chaotic world around him.
