The Hunger Games (2012)
In a totalitarian nation called Panem, the Capitol controls twelve districts through fear and oppression. Each year, the Capitol selects two young people, a boy and a girl called tributes, from each district to compete in the Hunger Games, a brutal event where participants fight until only one survives. When Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister Prim’s place as the female tribute from District 12, she is thrust into this deadly contest.
Katniss must navigate a hostile arena while facing not only other tributes but also the Capitol’s manipulations and the constant broadcast of the games to the entire nation. Alongside Peeta Mellark, the male tribute from her district, she confronts challenges that test her survival skills and resolve against the backdrop of a society that watches and controls every move.
