Mia Thermopolis is an ordinary 15-year-old living in San Francisco with her single mother, navigating school and social awkwardness. Her world changes when Queen Clarisse Renaldi reveals that Mia is the heir to the throne of Genovia, a small European kingdom, following the passing of her estranged father.

Faced with the challenge of embracing her royal heritage, Mia must balance her familiar teenage life with the expectations of becoming a princess. Under the guidance of the queen, she prepares to step into a world of formalities, public appearances, and royal duties, unsure if she is ready to accept this newfound identity.
