On Christmas Eve, Scott Calvin, a recently divorced father, and his young son encounter Santa Claus after he falls from their roof. When Scott jokingly puts on Santa’s suit and takes control of the magical sleigh, he unexpectedly inherits the role of the new Santa.

As Scott adjusts to his sudden transformation, he struggles to accept this new identity while facing disbelief from those around him, including his skeptical ex-wife and son. With time running out before Christmas, Scott must embrace his surprising responsibilities and convince a world that Santa is real.
