The Toy (1982)

Plutocrat U.S. Bates brings his spoiled son Eric to a department store during Eric’s yearly visit and offers him any gift he desires. Instead of choosing toys or gadgets, Eric picks a black janitor, sparking confusion and discomfort.

The janitor, initially subjected to Eric’s demanding and thoughtless behavior as his “toy,” gradually challenges the boy’s loneliness by showing him the meaning of friendship. Their unusual relationship develops against the backdrop of the store, with both characters navigating awkwardness and learning from one another.
