Trading Places (1983)
Louis Winthorpe III, a wealthy commodities broker, and Billy Ray Valentine, a streetwise hustler, become pawns in a high-stakes bet between two wealthy brothers, the Duke brothers. The Dukes orchestrate a social experiment by swapping the lives of Louis and Billy Ray, forcing the investor into a life of poverty while elevating the con artist to luxury and corporate power.
As Louis struggles to adjust to street life and Billy Ray navigates the world of finance, both men must find ways to outsmart the Dukes and regain control of their destinies. Set primarily in Philadelphia’s financial district and bustling urban streets, their roles are completely reversed in this sharp and comedic clash of class and savvy.
