Martin Brundle, the son of a scientist fused with a fly, is taken in by Bartok Industries, the company where his father once worked. As Martin grows, the employees around him anticipate the activation of his inherited mutant genes, which lie dormant but hold dangerous potential.

While navigating life under the shadow of his unusual origins, Martin faces challenges at Bartok Industries that test his humanity and the limits of scientific experimentation. The story centers on his struggle to control the transformation threatening to overtake him.
